ABOUT SRI LANKA:
“For a small island, Sri Lanka has many nicknames: Serendib, Ceylon, Teardrop of India, Resplendent Isle, Island of Dharma, Pearl of the Orient. This colourful collection reveals its richness and beauty, and the intensity of the affection it evokes in its visitors. Head for the rolling hills to escape the heat of the plains in the cool of tea plantations. The entire island is teeming with bird life, and exotics like elephants and leopards are not uncommon. To top it all off, the people are friendly, the food is delicious and costs are low.” Taken from the lonely planet |

Climate: |
Because of our superb location on the beach, we are refreshed by cool and constant breezes. So it’s never too hot or cold, wet or dry- the 4 conditions required for healthy living according to the ancient discipline of long life, Ayurveda. The weather is generally dry in the winter, but can feel cool at night. Temperatures vary around 70 to 80, so summer clothing is adequate through out the year.
|
What to take: |
Very little indeed. Repeat guests leave valuables and smart clothes at home: In Sri Lanka it is advised that ladies wear skirts/trousers instead of tiny shorts Women need something arm-covering when visiting temples or for occasional cool evenings. For those venturing to Badulla on the train, (3 week tour)a sweatshirt would be needed. Sensible cool shoes/sandals. Rain is rare but, when it comes, it deluges, so a light rain coat would be useful.
|
Some essentials are: |
At least one beach towel, sunscreen (high factor), bathing costume and insect repellent, binoculars if you like to watch birds, and appropriate medication. Water-less hand wash. Some strong perfume attracts flies during the day, and mosquitoes during the night.
